The European Statistical System needed to demonstrate its compliance with the European Statistics Code of Practice to maintain credibility, transparency and trust among policymakers and the public. Ensuring consistent quality standards across EU and EFTA countries was a major institutional challenge.

Artemis provided end-to-end operational and methodological support to the peer review process. This included organising on-site visits, coordinating expert missions, reviewing and editing all Project Reports, delivering workshops and training sessions and closely monitoring implementation progress. Artemis ensured alignment with the Code of Practice throughout the evaluation cycle.

The peer review process strengthened transparency, accountability and quality assurance across the European Statistical System. Artemis delivered 1,285 expert work-days, supporting multiple peer review rounds in EU Member States and EFTA countries. The project contributed to more consistent application of the European Statistics Code of Practice and reinforced trust in official statistics at European level.
